Cookies are small text strings that the websites visited by the user send to their device (usually to the browser), where they are stored to be retransmitted to the same websites during the user's next visit. While browsing a website, the user may also receive cookies on their device that are sent by different websites or web servers (so-called “third parties”), where certain elements (such as images, maps, sounds, or specific links to pages from other domains) integrated into the visited website may reside.
There are different types of cookies:
a. Technical cookies.
Technical cookies are used solely for “carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service” (see Art. 122, paragraph 1 of Legislative Decree 196/2003, the so-called Privacy Code). They are not used for any additional purposes, are normally installed directly by the website owner or operator, do not require the user’s prior consent, and can be divided into: browsing or session cookies, which ensure normal navigation and website use (for example, allowing purchases or authentication to access restricted areas); analytics cookies, which are treated as technical cookies when used directly by the site operator to collect aggregated information on the number of users and how they visit the website; functionality cookies, which allow the user to browse based on selected criteria (e.g., language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the provided service.
b. Profiling cookies.
Profiling cookies are intended to create user profiles and are used to send advertising messages aligned with the preferences shown by the user while browsing the web. The law requires that the user be adequately informed about their use so they can express their consent.
c. Third-party cookies.
When visiting a website, users may receive cookies from both the visited site (“first-party cookies”) and from sites operated by other organizations (“third-party cookies”). A notable example is the presence of “social plugins” for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest. These are parts of the visited page generated directly by those websites and integrated within the host site’s page. The most common use of social plugins is to share content on social networks.
The presence of these plugins results in the transmission of cookies to and from all websites managed by third parties. The management of information collected by “third parties” is governed by their respective privacy notices, to which users are encouraged to refer.
The website www.montmartreitalia.com uses the following cookies:
First-party cookies.
last_used_language: stores the user's preferred browsing language.
viewed_cookie_policy: created when this Cookie Policy is accepted to prevent the notice from appearing again.
Third-party cookies.
This website also includes certain components that will not be activated unless consent for cookie processing is given.
_ga and _gat: these are cookies created by the Google Analytics service, a web traffic analysis tool provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). They are third-party cookies collected and managed anonymously to monitor and improve the performance of the host website.
Google Analytics uses cookies to collect and anonymously analyze information about how users behave on the Wrong People website. This website does not use (and does not allow third parties to use) Google’s analytics tool to monitor or collect personally identifiable information. Google does not associate the IP address with any other data held by Google nor does it attempt to link an IP address with the identity of a user. Google may also communicate this information to third parties where required by law or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf.
NID: this cookie is generated when a Google Maps map is displayed.

The user can decide whether to accept or reject cookies using their browser settings.
Warning: completely or partially disabling technical cookies may compromise the use of site features reserved for registered users. Conversely, public content can still be accessed even if cookies are completely disabled.
Disabling “third-party cookies” does not affect navigability in any way.
Settings can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. Additionally, the best browsers allow separate settings for “first-party” and “third-party” cookies.
